When travelling abroad, be sure you are up to date on routine vaccinations. Additional vaccines may also be required based on where you are going, how long you are staying, what you will be doing. Check with your healthcare provider at least one month prior to departure to ensure you have all the recommended vaccinations and medications for travel to Peru.
Also check the CDC website for the up-to-date advice on health precautions. You may be required to get vaccinated for hepatitis A, typhoid, and yellow-fever when travelling to certain parts of the country.
Since ECOAN is located at an elevation of 0ver 4,000 meters / 13,100 feet above sea level, you might want to talk to your doctor about travel at higher elevations.
While much of northern Peru operates on the same plug shape as the United States (Type A), parts of the region and most of southern Peru use what’s known as C-type outlets and the entire country runs on 220-volt currents, which is higher than America’s 110-volt standard. Be sure to get the right adapter before you go and check your devices to see if you also need a voltage converter.
